Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the presidential press service said.
Before the start of his working trip, the head of state visited the home of prominent state and public figure Kallibek Kamalov, where surahs from the Quran were read and a prayer was offered for the deceased.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev recalled Kallibek Kamalov's life path, his good deeds and his contribution to the development of Karakalpakstan.
The president emphasised that respect for elders and honouring the memory of those who have passed away serve as an example for the younger generation.
Kallibek Kamalov died in February 2026. Over many years he held leadership positions in Karakalpakstan and took part in the region's social and economic development.
During his career he contributed to the development of industry and agriculture, as well as to raising the living standards of Karakalpakstan's population.
In recent years, Kamalov headed the public council of veterans. In that role he took part in work to support the older generation, strengthen accord and educate young people.
Kallibek Kamalov's services were recognised with the Shukhrat medal and the El-yurt hurmati order.
