Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the activities of the Karakalpakstan Scientific and Practical Medical Academy, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The new complex was established to systematically improve the qualifications of doctors, mid-level medical and pharmaceutical personnel using international standards and modern technologies. The academy is expected to become a regional center for the retraining of medical personnel.
A presidential resolution dated 24 December 2024 set the task of establishing a unified innovative medical cluster in Karakalpakstan by bringing together science, education and practical healthcare while attracting the private sector.
As part of this effort, a complex with a total cost of 154 billion soums was built on an area of 4.6 hectares. The project created 80 new jobs.
Each year, the academy will be able to provide advanced training for 3,000 doctors and 6,800 mid-level medical and pharmaceutical workers. In addition, about 100 clinical residents from the Aral Sea region will undergo training there annually.
The necessary conditions have been created for the education and accommodation of specialists. In particular, a 72-bed hotel is available for employees arriving from remote districts.
To develop practical skills, 18 simulation rooms have been equipped. Training is provided in more than 50 fields, enabling specialists to be trained in more than 100 types of medical practice in line with international standards.
The academy is equipped with modern medical technology. In particular, an “Edge Medical” surgical robot has been installed, which, according to the data presented, is the only one in Central Asia. The equipment is used for simulation training and enables high-precision remote surgery to be performed in real clinical settings.
The academy also cooperates with foreign medical centers and universities, including the University of Pittsburgh in the United States and the University of Freiburg in Germany. International training courses and joint research projects have been organized, while telemedicine and digital learning technologies are being introduced.
The head of state reviewed the facilities for practical training and spoke with students and healthcare workers.
