Uzbek Ambassador Presents Credentials to UAE President

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Umid Shodiev presented his credentials to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, the Dunyo news agency reported.

The ceremony was held at the official Qasr Al Watan presidential palace.

During the meeting, the UAE president highly praised the current state of bilateral relations and wished Shodiev success in his diplomatic mission. Particular attention was paid to further developing cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment and tourism.

The Emirati side expressed its readiness to create the necessary conditions for the new Uzbek ambassador to effectively carry out his diplomatic mission.

In turn, Shodiev conveyed to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the sincere greetings and respect of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The ambassador noted that, thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two countries, Uzbek-Emirati relations at the highest level have entered a qualitatively new stage. He also expressed his readiness to make every effort to further expand the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the UAE.

Shodiev succeeded Abdulaziz Akkulov, who headed Uzbekistan’s embassy in the UAE from 2022 to 2025. In December 2025, Akkulov was appointed chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously reported that it had received copies of Shodiev’s credentials in April 2026. At the time, the Emirati side also emphasized its readiness to develop relations with Uzbekistan across all areas.
