Uzbekneftegaz to launch Ahangaran-Pungan gas pipeline in September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekneftegaz national holding company will commission Ahangaran-Pungan gas pipeline with the cost of US$492.9 million. The pipeline will improve gas supply in Ferghana Valley, which unites Ferghana, Andijan and Namangan regions.
Currently, construction-assembly works are completed and trials under pressure will be completed soon. Launch of the pipeline will take place at the end of September. Switzerland’s Zeromax GmbH was general contractor.
Extension of the gas pipeline is 165 km and project capacity is 10 billion cubic meters a year. The project is one of the difficult projects in Uzbekistan as it passes through Kamchik pass, which is located at the height of 2,268 meters.
The project financed due to own resources of Uzbekneftagaz for US$417.9 million and the credit of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan worth US$75 million.
