Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan Airways will reduce fares on domestic routes by an average of 20% from 16 October, the airline's press service said.

The revised fares were developed jointly with the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection, according to the airline.

The company said the move aims to make air travel between regions of Uzbekistan more affordable for business trips, holidays and visits to relatives.

Under the new fares, one-way tickets from Tashkent to Andijan, Namangan, Samarkand and Ferghana will start at 201,062 soums. Fares to Bukhara will start at 241,274 soums, while tickets to Termez will cost from 361,911 soums. One-way flights to Nukus and Urgench will start at 442,336 soums.

The Competition Committee said it had analysed opportunities to optimise transportation costs in the air travel sector in line with a presidential instruction.

Following the analysis, the committee prepared proposals and recommendations to reduce domestic airfares by cutting these costs.
