Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Uzbekistan have agreed on a draft agreement on the exchange of information about goods and international transport vehicles crossing the customs borders of the two sides.
The first round of negotiations on preparing the document concluded in Moscow on 30 September. Following the meeting, the sides also agreed to begin domestic approval procedures for the draft agreement.
Sergei Shklyaev, Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, noted that Uzbekistan is one of the EAEU’s key trading partners. According to him, developing cooperation in the customs sphere and strengthening trust between the countries and their customs services remain priority areas.
Shklyaev stressed that the conclusion of the agreement and its subsequent implementation should help simplify customs procedures and accelerate the movement of goods across borders while ensuring effective customs control.
The draft document was agreed during the first round thanks to preliminary preparatory work and a series of consultations with relevant authorized bodies of the EAEU member states and Uzbekistan.
The decision to launch negotiations with Uzbekistan was adopted by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in December 2025.
The EAEU negotiating delegation included representatives of customs and other relevant authorized bodies of the Union’s member states, as well as staff members of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
