Polina Kudermetova Knocks Out of Wimbledon in First Round

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Polina Kudermetova has concluded her appearance at Wimbledon 2026 after losing in the first round to Lyudmila Samsonova of Russia.

The match ended in a straight-sets victory for Samsonova, 6-3, 6-3. The match lasted 1 hour and 13 minutes.

Prior to this head-to-head encounter, the tennis players had met twice before, with each securing one victory.

In the second round, Lyudmila Samsonova will play against another representative of Russia, Diana Shnaider, who defeated German tennis player Eva Lys with a score of 7-5, 6-1 in her opening match of the tournament.

Earlier, Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova and Maria Timofeeva successfully advanced past the first round of the competition and will continue their performances in the tournament.
