Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s U-23 Olympic football team defeated Kuwait 2-0 in the second round of the group stage at the 20th Asian Summer Games.
The Football Association of Uzbekistan reported the result.
The match was played at CS Asset Minato Soccer Stadium in Nagoya, Japan. Both goals for Uzbekistan were scored by Sardor Bakhromov.
After two rounds, Uzbekistan have collected six points and secured their place in the tournament’s quarterfinals with one group-stage match still to play.
In their final group-stage match, Uzbekistan will face Vietnam on 22 September.
A total of 15 teams are competing in the men’s football tournament at the Asian Games, divided into four groups. Three groups consist of four teams each, while one group has three teams.
