Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbekistan Football Association has denied reports that Fabio Cannavaro could leave his position as head coach of the national team following the postponement of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

In recent hours, several foreign media outlets reported that the Italian coach might consider leaving the team in response to the change in the tournament dates. However, the Uzbekistan Football Association said the reports were inaccurate.

The association urged media representatives and football fans not to rely on unconfirmed information and to follow official announcements.

The reports followed a post by well-known football journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano on social media platform X. He wrote that Cannavaro could consider stepping down as Uzbekistan's head coach following the decision to postpone the Asian Cup.
