Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Olympic football team made a strong start to its 2026 Asian Games campaign in Japan, defeating the Philippines 5-1 in the opening-round match.

The match was played on 15 September at CS Asset Minato Soccer Stadium in Nagoya. Muhammadali Urinboev opened the scoring in the 30th minute.

Saidumarkhon Saidnurullaev then scored twice in the second half, finding the net in the 60th and 71st minutes. Two minutes later, Ruziboy Fayzullaev extended Uzbekistan’s lead to 4-1. Muhammadali Reimov scored in the 80th minute to complete the victory. Merino scored the Philippines’ only goal in the 62nd minute. (ProSport)

Uzbekistan will play Kuwait on 18 September. The match will begin at 19:00 and will also be held at CS Asset Minato Soccer Stadium in Nagoya.

On 22 September, the Uzbek team will face Vietnam. The match will start at 14:00 at Paloma Mizuho Rugby Stadium in Nagoya.
