Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on 22 September, congratulating him on his birthday. The Uzbek president’s press service reported this.
At the beginning of the conversation, Mirziyoyev congratulated his Turkmen counterpart and wished him good health, well-being and further success in his state activities.
Mirziyoyev also conveyed warm greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in turn, conveyed good wishes to the Uzbek president on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
The main focus of the talks was further strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations based on friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership.
The presidents paid particular attention to trade and economic cooperation. They noted positive dynamics in mutual trade turnover and the implementation of joint projects in energy, transport and other areas.
The sides also emphasized the need to ensure the effective operation of the Shavat-Dashoguz joint trade zone.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed a number of regional issues. In particular, they exchanged views as part of preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, as well as the upcoming CIS summit, which will be held in Turkmenistan.
At the end of the telephone conversation, Mirziyoyev congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan on the upcoming national holiday, Independence Day.
