Hong Kong delegation visits IT Park Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, John Lee Ka-chiu, visited IT Park Uzbekistan during an official trip to Uzbekistan to review the country’s digital economy and technology sector development.

Members of the delegation were briefed on the activities of IT Park Uzbekistan, including measures to develop the IT industry, increase exports of digital services, attract international technology companies and support startups.

Guests were also informed about opportunities created for foreign investors and companies, including the IT Visa and Zero Risk programmes, as well as priority directions for the further development of the sector.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to projects in the field of digital public services and e-government.

In particular, solutions and platforms developed by UZINFOCOM were presented, along with the DMED digital ecosystem, the MyID biometric identification system, the Unified Portal of Interactive State Services MyGov, and other digital services.

A central event of the programme was a meeting focused on prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong in innovation and technology. The sides discussed digital transformation, artificial intelligence implementation, startup support, venture financing development, cooperation between technology parks and access to international markets.

The Uzbek side informed participants about ongoing reforms aimed at developing the digital economy and building a modern technological ecosystem in the country.

It was noted that IT Park Uzbekistan plays an important role in attracting foreign companies and specialists, expanding IT services exports and supporting innovative entrepreneurship.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies until 2030. It was noted that AI-based solutions are being gradually introduced in public administration, education, healthcare and other sectors of the economy.

John Lee Ka-chiu highly praised Uzbekistan’s achievements in digitalisation and noted the progress made by the country in a relatively short period.

He also positively referred to the “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy and underlined the prospects for cooperation in building a Digital Silk Road.

Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their interest in developing partnerships in digital technologies, innovation, startups and investment.

It was noted that the visit would provide additional impetus for strengthening long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
