Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The international youth association UN-NYG (United Nations – Nuclear Young Generation) has joined the Youth Declaration on Nuclear Cooperation. The signing took place at a joint event between UN-NYG and the Rosatom state corporation on the sidelines of the 70th session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference.
The declaration is devoted to international cooperation, knowledge exchange and the participation of young specialists in the development of the nuclear industry. The document enshrines the principles of open dialogue, knowledge exchange and continuity of generations in the nuclear sector.
UN-NYG's accession to the declaration confirms a shared commitment to the participation of young professionals in shaping the future of the nuclear industry. The document includes seven principles concerning nuclear safety and security, equal access to education and knowledge, the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology, youth leadership, continuous development, international cooperation and responsible access to achievements in nuclear technology.
"We are shaping the global agenda together with young leaders from different countries. The signing of the declaration opens new horizons for international cooperation among young nuclear workers and strengthens the foundation for passing knowledge on to future generations," said Tatyana Terentyeva, Rosatom's deputy general director for personnel.
The document was developed as part of World Nuclear Week in Moscow in September 2025. One hundred young specialists from 33 countries, representing 81 organisations, took part in its preparation.
"By joining the Youth Declaration on Nuclear Cooperation, we confirm: young leaders of the nuclear community are not simply observing change — we are part of it. Our voice matters for ensuring a sustainable nuclear future," UN-NYG president Federico Verly emphasised.
During the event, participants discussed the contribution of young specialists to the development of nuclear science, personnel training and the formation of international norms in the nuclear industry.
Representatives of the IAEA, Women in Nuclear Global Young Generation, the African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN), the Rosatom Corporate Academy and UN-NYG took part in a panel discussion titled "The Next Generation: Voices of Youth".
