GS-BIO to Build Seed Potato Lab in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — South Korean agrobiotechnology company GS-BIO plans to establish a modern laboratory in the Namangan region to advance seed potato farming, the press service of the Namangan regional administration reported.

A company delegation led by head Kim Won-hyong arrived in the region to discuss cooperation in the sector. Regional Governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov met with Kim to discuss the production and supply of seed potatoes, as well as the implementation of greenhouse technologies and Smart Farm systems.

GS-BIO specializes in innovative solutions for modern seed potato production systems, focusing primarily on producing virus-free planting material. According to the regional administration, the proposed solutions aim to increase crop yields and product quality while developing seed potato production in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Representatives of the South Korean firm expressed interest in expanding cooperation given the conditions and opportunities in the Namangan region. The parties are currently studying the possibility of establishing the laboratory in one of the region's potato-growing districts.
