Former Uzmetkombinat Head Wanted by Interpol
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Former Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbekistan’s metallurgical company “Uzbek Metallurgical Plant” (Uzmetkombinat), Dilshod Akhmedov, has been placed on an international wanted list, according to information published on the Interpol website.
Investigative authorities have brought charges against him under Part 3 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which covers embezzlement or misappropriation of property through theft.
Akhmedov, born in 1972, was appointed chairman of Uzmetkombinat in October 2024. However, he was dismissed from the position in August 2025.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, as well as First Deputy Chairman of the same enterprise.
Uzmetkombinat is one of the key metallurgical enterprises in Central Asia, specializing in the production of rolled steel products and steel grinding balls.
The company’s financial results for 2025 showed a net profit of 117 billion soums, representing a 66.4% decline compared to the previous year, when profit stood at 348.1 billion soums. In 2023, the company’s profit amounted to 513.7 billion soums.
