Ferghana and Alcon Discuss Biochar Production Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Governor of Ferghana, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting with a delegation led by Managing Director of Germany’s Alcon Development Group, Zia Gaziyev, and his business partner Ahsen Qureshi.

The meeting continued earlier discussions involving representatives of the company. The sides reviewed the current status and next stages of implementation of investment projects planned within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was given to an innovative biochar production project involving the processing of cotton plant stalks into a specialized form of charcoal.

Company representatives emphasized the importance of the initiative for the efficient utilization of agricultural waste, improvement of environmental conditions, production of high value-added goods, and strengthening export potential.

The regional governor noted that local authorities will provide the necessary organizational and practical support, as well as create favorable conditions for the implementation of investment projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed, outlining a phased implementation plan for the project.
