Uzbekistan, Charité Research Discuss Clinical Trials

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and German contract research organization Charité Research Organisation discussed prospects for cooperation in clinical research and related infrastructure, the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry said.

On 8 August, Agency Director Abdulla Azizov held an online meeting with Frank Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Charité Research Organisation.

The sides discussed developing clinical research in Uzbekistan in line with international standards, improving infrastructure for clinical trials, expanding international cooperation and enhancing the qualifications of specialists.

Representatives of the German organization were briefed on reforms underway in Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical industry, the emerging legal and institutional framework for clinical research, and the opportunities offered by the BioPharma City pharmaceutical cluster.

In particular, the German side was presented with information about modern research centres being established within the cluster, its vivarium and infrastructure meeting GMP and GLP requirements. The sides also discussed opportunities created for foreign investors and research organizations.

During the meeting, the sides considered prospects for conducting clinical trials in Uzbekistan in line with international requirements, implementing research projects, introducing advanced technologies and expertise, and training specialists.
