Driver Dies After Truck Catches Fire in Samarkand Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A MAN truck driver died in a traffic accident in the Nurabad district of the Samarkand region after the vehicle's cabin caught fire while moving, according to the Road Safety Department.

The accident occurred on 6 August at about 16:00 on the 35th kilometer of the A-378 highway passing through the Mehnatkash neighborhood in the Nurabad district.

According to preliminary data, the truck was traveling along the Samarkand-Kashkadarya route when a fire suddenly broke out in the cabin. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver lost control, causing the truck to collide with a concrete barrier and overturn.

The driver died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigative department under the Nurabad District Department of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case into the accident. Investigative actions are underway to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances of the incident.
