Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan national team defender Bekhruz Karimov provided an assist as Lugano secured a 4-0 away victory over Lausanne in the ninth round of the Swiss championship. The match was played at Stade de la Tuilière.
All four of Lugano’s goals were scored by defenders, with centre-back Hannes Delcroix netting a hat-trick. He opened the scoring in the 35th minute following a corner kick before doubling his side’s lead with a header in the 48th minute.
Delcroix completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute, heading home a cross from Bekhruz Karimov delivered from the right flank. Lugano’s fourth goal came as an own goal in the 61st minute, when Lausanne defender Karim Sow turned the ball into his own net following a cross from substitute Mattia Zanotti.
Lausanne had already been reduced to 10 men before Lugano scored its third goal. In the 52nd minute, home player Sekou Kone, who is on loan from Manchester United, received a straight red card for a serious foul on Anto Grgic.
The victory allowed Lugano to retain sole possession of the top spot in the Swiss Super League standings. After nine rounds, the team has collected 25 points, recording eight wins and one draw. Lugano is six points clear of its nearest challenger, Young Boys.
For 19-year-old Bekhruz Karimov, the assist marked his second consecutive goal contribution for the Swiss club. In the previous round, on 16 September, he scored his first goal for Lugano in a 4-1 victory over St. Gallen.
Karimov joined Lugano from Tashkent-based Surkhon in August 2026. His contract with the club runs for five years.
