Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has decided to open a separate diplomatic mission in Belgrade before establishing a full-fledged embassy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said following talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

According to the Uzbek president, Uzbek diplomats will be sent to Serbia as early as next week. They will begin working to develop bilateral ties, including by assisting Serbian companies in finding and establishing contacts with partners in Uzbekistan.

“Already next week, we will send diplomats who will begin providing comprehensive assistance to Serbian companies in developing ties with Uzbek partners,” Mirziyoyev said.

The president noted that the decision to open the mission was made following his talks with Aleksandar Vucic.

Thus, Uzbekistan’s diplomatic presence in Belgrade will be established before the opening of a full-fledged embassy.

One of the first practical tasks for the diplomats will be to support business contacts between representatives of the two countries.
