Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has joined the Artemis Accords, which establish principles for international cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids, the country’s foreign minister said.

The document was signed on 19 October by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio following bilateral talks.

Uzbekistan became the 77th country to join the accords.

According to Saidov, participation in the initiative opens new opportunities to expand cooperation with the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the space agencies of other participating countries.

The document also creates opportunities for training national specialists and transferring space technologies.
