Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —Uzbekistan will conduct a Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in 2027–2028 to assess the situation of children and women in the country. The survey procedure was approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 556 dated 9 October 2026, which also established the composition of the National Intersectoral Coordination Council.

The survey will be organised by the National Statistics Committee in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The National Statistics Committee has been designated as the authorised body responsible for conducting the study.

The preparatory stage is scheduled to be completed by June 2027. Household surveys are expected to take place by November 2027, while data collection and analysis are to be completed by March 2028.

Preparation of the national report is scheduled to be completed by June 2028, with publication of the results planned by July of that year. By November 2028, comprehensive measures to develop the relevant sectors are expected to be drawn up based on the findings.

A National Intersectoral Coordination Council has been established to coordinate preparations for the survey, oversee its implementation and analyse the results. National and local executive authorities, ministries and agencies will be involved in organising the survey.

Measures to protect personal data and ensure the confidentiality of statistical information will be applied during interviews. Any interference in the household survey process is strictly prohibited.

The MICS results will help assess the situation of women and children in Uzbekistan, analyse social indicators and identify measures to further develop the relevant sectors.
