Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has prevented the distribution of 24 kg of hashish as part of the second stage of the Qoradori-2026 operational and preventive campaign.
The operations were conducted by officers of the Interior Ministry’s Criminal Investigation Department and its territorial units in cooperation with the State Security Service, the Interior Ministry’s press service said.
A 1993-born native of Andijan Region was detained in a border area of Namangan Region. According to the Interior Ministry, he had transported 20 kg of hashish from a neighbouring country across the Naryn River. The drugs had been concealed in a bag, which he attempted to leave under trees about 20 metres from the border.
The investigation established that the man intended to hand over the drugs to accomplices living in Andijan and Namangan regions. According to operational footage, he had been promised US$10,000 for delivering the bag.
The operation then continued in Andijan Region to detain other members of the group. At around 2 a.m. on 7 September, a 1976-born man was detained in Andijan while receiving 10 kg of hashish.
The operation subsequently moved to Kokand in Fergana Region, where another suspect was detained while allegedly attempting to sell hashish for US$24,000.
A 1991-born man was also detained in Besharyk district of Fergana Region. According to the Interior Ministry, he was caught with evidence while selling 4 kg of hashish packed in four separate packages.
Criminal cases have been opened against the suspects under Part 2 of Article 246 and Clause “a” of Part 5 of Article 273 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code. All the suspects have been remanded in custody.
The Interior Ministry urged citizens to report suspicious activity and people who may be involved in the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through the Telegram bot @stopnarko_bot.
