Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent authorities will take actual weather conditions into account when deciding when to switch on the city’s central heating, and will not delay the start of the heating season if a drop in temperatures makes an earlier launch necessary.
The city administration said it understood residents’ concerns over falling temperatures and the inquiries it had received about when heating would be switched on.
Under the established procedure, the heating season begins when the average daily air temperature remains below 8 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days.
However, the authorities stressed that, as in previous years, they would base their decision on actual weather conditions and act without delay if necessary.
City services are currently preparing the heating systems for the season in cooperation with Veolia Energy Tashkent.
Last year, Tashkent began connecting buildings to the heating network before a sustained cold spell set in. Social facilities were connected from 3 November, followed by residential buildings from 5 November.
