Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has launched a national programme to protect workers' rights and dignity and prevent harassment, violence and discrimination in the workplace. Around 70 representatives of government agencies, international organisations and development partners gathered in Tashkent to discuss its practical implementation.
Nazimakhon Davletova, adviser to the head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan and chief coordinator of the Project Office for Human Capital Development, stressed that a culture of mutual respect should become the norm in every organisation.
According to Davletova, the reform aims to foster respectful relationships between people and institutions regardless of gender. She noted that such a culture provides a foundation for a healthy society and the training of qualified personnel for New Uzbekistan.
Under the programme, a digital portal called “Safe and Respectful Working Environment” is scheduled to be launched by December 2026. It will allow employees to report workplace violations anonymously.
The programme also предусматривает training 700 facilitators across the country's 14 regions. They will provide training to 35,000 employees of public-sector organisations responsible for human resources management and creating safe working environments.
In addition, the programme предусматривает introducing mechanisms for reviewing employee complaints and monitoring the measures taken in response.
Participants in the event included Supreme Court Chairwoman Robakhon Makhmudova, Deputy Prosecutor General Svetlana Artikova, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Nigina Abasazade and UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Sabine Machl.
Participants emphasised the need to translate legal guarantees into effective mechanisms for protecting workers and strengthen cooperation among government agencies.
The national programme is being implemented under Presidential Resolution No. PP-345 dated 21 September 2026 and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 518 dated 28 September 2026.
