Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation has denied reports that universities were allegedly given oral instructions not to admit citizens of India and Bangladesh. The information circulating on social media is not true.
Starting from the current academic year, foreign applicants seeking admission to higher education institutions in Uzbekistan are applying through the unified electronic Study in Uzbekistan platform.
The platform provides foreign applicants with information about universities, academic programs, admission requirements and tuition fees. Applicants can also submit documents electronically and track the status of their applications.
According to the ministry, the new system is designed to make the admission process for foreign students more open and transparent, reduce applicants’ reliance on various intermediaries and enable them to communicate directly with educational institutions.
Registration on the platform is free of charge. Applicants can submit applications directly to their chosen university.
The ministry emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested not in restricting but in expanding the inflow of foreign students.
The main objectives include expanding the geographical reach of foreign students, promoting Uzbekistan as an attractive destination for education and ensuring sustainable growth in the export of educational services.
Each university determines its own intake of foreign students based on its available capacity.
This includes the condition of classrooms and laboratory facilities, the capacity of teaching staff, the availability of dormitory places and other infrastructure resources.
Foreign applicants have been advised to use the official Study in Uzbekistan platform, obtain information about admission requirements directly from their chosen university and avoid making unjustified payments to intermediaries.
If problems arise during the admission campaign, foreign applicants can report them through the official channels for submitting appeals available on the platform.
