Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan is preparing to reform its system of support for people with drug dependence by integrating prevention, treatment and rehabilitation into a unified system.

Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva visited a regional drug treatment facility in Kashkadarya region, where she reviewed the conditions under which patients receive medical care.

Mirziyoyeva said that people struggling with addiction need not only qualified specialists and high-quality treatment but also compassion and personal support.

"Nobody should be afraid to ask for help or be left alone with their pain," she stressed.

To prepare the reform, Uzbekistan plans to involve domestic and international experts.

They will work on a dedicated programme based on a comprehensive approach to addiction prevention, patient treatment and subsequent rehabilitation.

The initiative's main objective is to establish a system that provides patients with medical care and support at every stage of their recovery and return to a healthy life.
