Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) is scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026, bringing together international stakeholders to discuss global climate challenges and potential solutions.

The conference is expected to attract representatives of governments, international organisations, the scientific community, businesses and civil society to examine measures aimed at addressing climate change and strengthening international cooperation.

Key priorities will include implementation of the Paris Agreement, reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, climate adaptation, climate finance and international partnerships.

One of the conference's principal events will be the World Leaders Climate Action Summit, scheduled for 11–12 November.

Heads of state and government are expected to discuss national climate priorities, progress towards fulfilling international commitments and opportunities to accelerate climate-related transformations.

The COP31 programme will cover a broad range of issues, including energy, sustainable agriculture, food security, biodiversity conservation, urban development and the introduction of environmentally sustainable technologies.

Dedicated thematic days will focus on climate finance and green investment, transport, the circular economy, youth and education, scientific research, industrial innovation, aquatic ecosystems and sustainable tourism.

For Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries, the conference will provide an opportunity to address pressing environmental challenges, particularly water scarcity, desertification, land degradation and adaptation to climate change.

Discussions at COP31 could create additional opportunities to expand international cooperation and attract investment into environmental projects.

Potential areas of cooperation include the introduction of water-saving technologies, ecosystem restoration, renewable energy development and measures to strengthen agricultural resilience.

The scientific community, young people and businesses are also expected to play an important role in developing and implementing practical climate solutions.

A central issue at the conference will be translating international climate commitments into measurable results.

Achieving climate objectives will require access to financing, technological development and stronger partnerships between countries.

For Uzbekistan, COP31 will offer an opportunity to present national environmental initiatives, strengthen international relationships and explore additional mechanisms for supporting projects aimed at addressing climate-related challenges.

The conference's success will depend not only on the agreements reached by participating countries but also on how effectively those commitments are translated into practical action.
