CIS States Discuss Tourism Cooperation in St Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An international session on tourism cooperation was held in St Petersburg as part of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), focusing on increasing tourist flows among member states and sharing national experience in assisting tourists during emergencies.

The event brought together parliamentarians from CIS countries, representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies, tourism industry experts and international organisations.

Participants discussed strengthening cooperation in tourism, improving traveller safety, enhancing emergency response mechanisms and expanding tourism exchanges among CIS member states.

On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral and multilateral meetings were held to discuss prospects for joint projects, the exchange of experience and the creation of more convenient and safer conditions for travel.

Particular attention was given to the development of tourism infrastructure, the introduction of digital technologies, improvements to emergency assistance mechanisms for tourists, the harmonisation of safe tourism standards and the exchange of best practices for creating a unified tourism space across CIS countries.

At the conclusion of the meetings, participants reaffirmed their commitment to further developing cooperation, exchanging experience and supporting initiatives aimed at expanding practical collaboration among CIS member states in the tourism sector.
