Antique Coins Smuggling Attempt Foiled in Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Andijan region, an attempt to illegally export cultural valuables abroad was prevented at the “Madaniyat” customs border post.

According to relevant authorities, a citizen of a neighboring country was stopped while attempting to take out 51 coins minted in 1955 and 1961. Experts assessed these items as having historical value.

Authorities reminded that, in accordance with current legislation, the export of cultural valuables created 50 years ago or earlier from Uzbekistan is prohibited.
