Alisher Navoi Monument Unveiled in Tbilisi
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze participated in the solemn opening ceremony of a monument dedicated to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi.
During the ceremony, it was noted that the literary heritage of Alisher Navoi holds global significance and has served as a source of knowledge and inspiration for centuries, promoting the ideas of humanism, enlightenment, wisdom, and mutual respect.
It was emphasized that the unveiling of the monument marks an important event in the development of cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Georgia. The two countries are historically connected by trade routes, mutual respect, and a shared interest in each other's cultural heritage.
It was also noted that Uzbekistan honors the memory of the prominent Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, with one of the central streets in Tashkent named after him, where a monument to the classic of Georgian literature is installed. In turn, one of the central parks in Tbilisi was named after Alisher Navoi last year.
In recent years, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries has been actively developing. Days of Culture and Cinema of Uzbekistan were held in Tbilisi, while Days of Georgian Culture took place in Tashkent.
Participants at the ceremony expressed confidence that the monument to Alisher Navoi will become a new symbol of the strengthening friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
