Direct Tashkent-Mauritius Flights to Launch in December

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Direct air service between Tashkent and Mauritius will be launched for the first time on 26 December 2026, with tourism industry representatives from the two countries discussing cooperation and joint projects in Tashkent, the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee said.

The bilateral dialogue was held at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Tashkent on the initiative of Uzbek company Prestige Travel in cooperation with the Tourism Committee. Representatives of leading Mauritian tourism companies and hotel brands, as well as Uzbek tour operators, took part in the event.

At the initial stage, airlines will operate four flights on the Tashkent-Mauritius-Tashkent route. The first flight is scheduled for 26 December, with the remaining three planned for January 2027. From June next year, the service is expected to shift to a regular schedule of one flight per week.

The launch of the direct route is seen as an opportunity for Uzbekistan’s tourism industry to enter a new market. At the same time, Tashkent could serve as a transit point for passengers from Central Asian and CIS countries traveling to Mauritius. In particular, flights via Tashkent could eventually attract tourists from Kazakhstan, Russia and other CIS countries.

Prestige Travel founder Oybek Akhmedov said the new flights are expected to increase mutual tourist flows and help establish Mauritius as a new destination for travelers from Uzbekistan.

According to Akhmedov, a significant share of Mauritius’ population belongs to the Indian Muslim community, which is expected to create opportunities for the development of pilgrimage and gastronomic tourism.

In this regard, Uzbek tour operators could develop special tourism products for visitors from Mauritius, including trips to the historical and cultural sites of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent, as well as shrines associated with Islamic civilization and opportunities to experience Uzbek national cuisine.

The new air service is being launched under the Open Tourist Season program, which has been implemented annually from June to August since 2026. The program provides financial support to tourism market participants.

Airlines launching new routes receive a subsidy of US$100 for each foreign tourist they attract, as well as a 20% discount on airport services.

Local tour operators are eligible for a subsidy of US$5,000 for every 1,000 tourists attracted from countries outside the near-abroad region.
