Adani Group Eyes Uzbekistan Hydropower Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — India’s Adani Group has expressed interest in investing in new hydropower and pumped-storage hydropower projects in Uzbekistan, O‘zbekgidroenergo said.

The talks were held in Ahmedabad, India. A delegation from Uzbekistan led by Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov met with Adani Group executives. Azimjon Ahmadjanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of O‘zbekgidroenergo JSC, also took part in the talks.

Adani Group founder Gautam Adani highlighted the scale of reforms underway in Uzbekistan’s hydropower sector, the industry’s investment potential and the conditions being created for foreign investors.

The sides discussed the introduction of modern technologies in hydropower, the construction of new energy facilities and the implementation of investment projects.

Particular attention was paid to prospects for building new hydropower plants and pumped-storage hydropower plants in Uzbekistan. Adani said the corporation is interested in participating in such projects.

The talks also covered the role of hydropower in expanding Uzbekistan’s green energy potential, ensuring the stability of the energy system and efficiently using renewable energy sources.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue cooperation on developing project partnership mechanisms, jointly preparing investment initiatives and implementing them.
