Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — From 24 to 29 March, a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change is on a working visit to the Republic of Korea. The visit focuses on expanding cooperation in environmental assessment, impact evaluation, and achieving carbon neutrality.
The key event of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Uzbekistan’s State Environmental Expertise Center and the Korea Environment Institute. The document aims to improve environmental assessment, enhance public participation in environmental decision-making, implement joint projects, and align national legislation with international standards.
Additionally, the parties agreed to launch pilot projects to reduce the carbon footprint, organize training seminars for specialists, and develop cooperation within the KOICA program, which supports strengthening Uzbekistan’s environmental monitoring system.
The visit also includes studying South Korea’s experience in environmental regulation, digital environmental monitoring, and harmonizing legislation with international norms.
