Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek and Afghan entrepreneurs reached export agreements and preliminary deals worth about US$700,000 in Termez, with the main focus on supplies of Uzbek footwear, leather goods and other leather products to the Afghan market, the Uzcharm Industry Association said.
The talks were held from 15 to 17 September as part of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan Light Industry international exhibition at the Termez International Trade Center in the Airitom Free Zone.
More than 10 Uzbek enterprises participated in the event, including STEP BY STEP, RAVON TARAQQIYOT ORZUSI, UZSHOES, DENOV RAVNOQ KAMOLI and other manufacturers.
During the business meetings, Uzbek companies presented their products to potential buyers from Afghanistan. The sides discussed terms for supplying footwear, leather goods and other leather products, expected order volumes, product ranges and logistics issues.
Following the talks, domestic manufacturers established direct business contacts with new Afghan buyers. The agreements provide for further cooperation to finalize orders and prepare new contracts.
The companies are currently continuing negotiations with Afghan partners to clarify supply parameters and develop cooperation.
The three-day business program in Termez provided a platform for establishing new direct contacts and expanding export opportunities for Uzbek leather and footwear products in the Afghan market.
