Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Construction of the main building at a solid household waste processing plant that will generate electricity has been completed in Akhangaran District, Tashkent Region. Work on the first stage of the investment project has also been finished.
A ceremony marking the completion was held at the facility in the Yangi Hayot mahalla. Participants included Akhangaran District Governor Bakhrom Norkobilov, company representatives and officials from relevant organisations.
Speaking at the event, the district governor highlighted the project’s importance for the development of the region’s energy sector, economy and environmental infrastructure. Processing household waste will allow it to be used as an energy source, expand electricity generation capacity and reduce pressure on the environment.
Company representatives provided updates on construction progress, the plant’s designed capacity, the technologies to be used and the next stages of implementation.
The project is being carried out with the participation of Chinese company China CAMC Engineering in accordance with Presidential Resolution No. PP-116 of 24 March 2025. Total investment amounts to US$240 million, financed through foreign direct investment.
The plant is designed to process 912,000 tonnes of solid household waste annually through thermal treatment. It is expected to generate up to 390 million kWh of electricity per year.
The next stages will include installing technological equipment, carrying out assembly work and preparing production systems for launch.
Once completed, the facility is expected to become part of the region’s waste management and alternative energy infrastructure.
The stated waste processing and electricity generation volumes are design capacity figures.
