Uzbektelecom cuts internet rates for ISPs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbektelecom joint stock company, a national telecommunication operator of Uzbekistan, cut rates for internet service (external channel) for internet service providers (ISPs) up to US$475 per 1 Mbps from 13 April 2012 (-5%).

The operator recalled that it cut prices for external channel services nine times in 2011 and three times in 2012.

The price for 1 MB of Internet was US$849 in early 2011 and decreased to US$529 in December 2011. The price fell to US$500 on 20 January 2012and US$495 on 2 February 2012.

The operator said that the prices fell more than three times in last two years – from US$1,510 to US$475.
