Uzbekistan, UAE Deepen Strategic Investment Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates have held an intensive round of negotiations covering key areas of economic and technological cooperation, according to Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, who noted a packed agenda of meetings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
He said that within a single day, talks were held across a wide range of sectors with strong potential for practical implementation, including the economy, tourism, logistics, digital transformation, infrastructure, and water resource management.
In Dubai, the Uzbek delegation met with UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
The sides discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and the transition to a new stage of development, with a focus on investment-driven projects.
Particular attention was given to deepening industrial cooperation, advancing tourism initiatives, and progressing work on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two countries.
The delegation also held talks with the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama. Discussions focused on digital transformation, the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, and the development of advanced technological solutions.
In Abu Dhabi, a meeting was held with Mariam Almheiri, Deputy Chair of 2PointZero and Head of International Affairs at the Presidential Court. The talks covered prospects for cooperation in mining, energy, IT and digital infrastructure, as well as projects in renewable energy, energy storage systems, decarbonization, and sustainable power supply for industrial zones.
It was noted that the legal framework for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE includes 36 bilateral agreements. In 2025, trade turnover between the two countries reached US$1.25 billion, marking a 52% increase compared to 2024.
The joint investment portfolio covers around 100 projects with a total value exceeding US$20 billion.
UAE investment in 2025 amounted to US$1.5 billion. Currently, 421 enterprises with Emirati capital operate in Uzbekistan, reflecting steady growth in investor confidence in the country’s economy.
