Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Belarus and Uzbekistan will prepare a roadmap for cooperation in the energy sector and establish a joint working group to coordinate bilateral engagement.

The issues were discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus Nuriddin Mamajonov. The Belarusian Energy Ministry reported the meeting.

The sides reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation and the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Belarus in July.

Priority areas include cooperation in nuclear energy and the use of Belarusian experience in implementing Uzbekistan’s nuclear power plant construction project, development of energy infrastructure, participation of Belarusian design and construction companies in projects in the Uzbek market, cooperation in the electrical engineering industry, automation and digitalisation of energy facilities, and personnel training.

Moroz said Belarus and Uzbekistan maintain a high level of trust and substantive dialogue in the energy sector, and that the existing potential should be translated into concrete joint projects.

The sides also discussed establishing a joint Belarusian-Uzbek working group and preparing a roadmap that will bring together prospective areas of cooperation and joint projects.
