Uzbekistan to Open Logistics Hub in Belarus by Year-End
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed officials to commission an intermodal logistics center in Belarus by the end of 2026 and establish direct block train services between the two countries.
The tasks were set during a review of the implementation of agreements reached during the president's official visit to Belarus on 8–9 July 2026.
The development of logistics infrastructure was discussed as part of efforts to expand bilateral trade and reduce freight transportation costs. The intermodal logistics center is planned to be established in cooperation with Belarusian Railway at the Orsha railway station in the Vitebsk Region. The facility will handle export and import cargoes under preferential tariff conditions.
The president also instructed officials to organize direct block train services between Uzbekistan and Belarus jointly with Belarusian companies.
Particular attention was paid to the organized employment of Uzbek citizens. At the initial stage, 1,100 people are expected to be selected through a competitive process for jobs at 13 enterprises in the Vitebsk Region and other parts of Belarus.
The presentation noted that 255 residents of Uzbekistan's Andijan Region have already been employed under cooperation between the Andijan and Vitebsk regions. Starting in September, 500 people are expected to be sent to the Vitebsk Region each month. The programme aims to provide jobs for a total of 5,000 Uzbek citizens. A representative office of the Migration Agency will be opened in Vitebsk to support the initiative.
The president also instructed officials to assist Uzbek entrepreneurs in opening bank accounts in Belarus, transferring funds to authorized capital, and securing financing for joint projects. Preferential funding will also be allocated for the establishment of a modern dairy complex, a wood-processing enterprise, and a logistics company in Vitebsk.
Following the meeting, responsible officials were instructed to ensure systematic oversight of the implementation of the agreements and to regularly review progress under the approved road maps.
