Uzbekistan to construct highway for US$1.88bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will construct national highway with the cost of US$1.88 billion soums till 2015. The length of highway will be equal to distance between Tashkent and Moscow.

The Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on reconstruction and development of Uzbek national highway for 2009-2014”, which envisages reconstruction and development of 2,755 km of roads.

In line with the document, two-line roads will be replaced to four-line ones, which meets international standards. It is expected that surface of the roads will be changed as well.
