Uzbekistan Strengthens Cooperation with China Exim Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov, Sun Ying, General Manager of the Export-Import Bank of China, and Chen Zhou, Head of the “China–Eurasia” Economic Cooperation Fund.

The Export-Import Bank of China is one of the country’s largest state-owned financial institutions, established in 1994 and specializing in concessional financing for infrastructure projects. As of the end of 2024, its assets were estimated at US$819.8 billion.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the current state of financial cooperation and confirmed readiness to accelerate the implementation of joint projects. It was separately noted that a key milestone of cooperation will be the “Uzbekistan–China and SCO Countries” Economic Forum, scheduled for June 16 as part of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The Chinese side confirmed its readiness to bring leading Chinese companies to the forum, emphasizing the importance of the platform for expanding business and investment ties.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in further deepening their strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation in the financial and investment sphere.
