Uzbekistan Shuts Down 129 Illegal Liquefied Gas Sales Points

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 286 violations in the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the population have been identified in Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2026, Hududgaztaminot reported. Inspections resulted in the closure of 129 illegal storage and sales points for liquefied gas, commonly known as "bunkers" and "pits".

According to the company, monitoring measures prevented the illegal sale of 3,530 household gas cylinders and 25.8 metric tons of liquefied gas. In addition, the theft of 71.6 metric tons of fuel was uncovered. Materials regarding all identified cases have been submitted to law enforcement agencies for damage recovery and legal assessment.

Hududgaztaminot noted that digital solutions, including a Face ID biometric identification system, are being implemented to improve transparency in the liquefied gas distribution system, reduce the human factor, and prevent abuse. According to the company, the technology helps prevent numerous instances of illegal household gas cylinder distribution.

Despite the ongoing measures, certain individuals continue attempts to bypass existing rules, illegally sell liquefied gas, and create corruption risks.

The company emphasized that efforts to combat corruption, increase openness and transparency in the liquefied gas distribution system, ensure timely detection of violations, and protect consumer interests will continue.
