Uzbekistan and JICA Expand Free Economic Zone Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with a mission from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by the Head of the JICA Office in Uzbekistan Sakai Mamoru, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.
The sides discussed the implementation of a joint project on the development of free economic zones, attracting foreign direct investment, and advancing the country's industrial development.
The focus of the meeting was a technical cooperation project aimed at improving the operation of free economic zones and enhancing the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the participants reviewed the results of a JICA diagnostic mission conducted with the involvement of relevant ministries and free economic zone directorates.
Following the talks, the parties signed a protocol outlining the next steps for implementing the joint project.
During the meeting, officials noted that the project will contribute to strengthening the Uzbek-Japanese partnership, developing industry, and increasing the country's investment attractiveness.
