Uzbekistan shares groundwater management practice with Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Water resource specialists from Tajikistan familiarized themselves with the experience of Uzbekistan in efficient groundwater management and protection during a visit held on 13–15 July 2026.

As part of the program, the delegation visited the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, the Uzbekhydrogeology and Center for Development of Subsoil Use state institutions, the HYDROINGEO Institute, the University of Geological Sciences, and the Tashkent station of the State Geological Monitoring Service.

The Tajik specialists were presented with the system for rational groundwater use, the organization of hydrogeological monitoring, laboratory research, the procedure for issuing permits, the training of young specialists, and ongoing projects in the field of transboundary groundwater.

Following the visit, the parties agreed to develop cooperation within the framework of the Helvetas project, expand the exchange of experience in the field of transboundary groundwater, and prepare a memorandum of understanding for signature.
