Uzbekistan Sets New Electricity Consumption Record

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Historic maximum levels of electricity consumption and generation were recorded in Uzbekistan’s unified power system on 20 July as of 17:22, the Ministry of Energy reported.

According to the ministry, electricity consumption across the country reached 14 GW, while electricity generation amounted to 14.2 GW.

The ministry said both figures were the highest recorded in the history of the country’s electricity sector.

The Energy Ministry did not rule out further updates to the record levels. According to the ministry’s forecast, electricity consumption and generation volumes may reach new historic highs again by the end of the day.
