State Land Sale Scheme Thwarted in Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement agencies in the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region have thwarted an attempt to illegally sell a state-owned plot of land.

According to investigators, a citizen born in 1992 offered a buyer a vacant plot of land measuring 50 hundredths located in the Buka district. The plot lacked cadastral documents and was state property.

The suspect valued each hundredth of land at US$340 and agreed to sell the entire plot for US$17,000. He also promised to arrange the necessary cadastral documents through his acquaintances.

During an operational event, the man was detained while receiving a US$1,500 portion of the agreed amount.

A criminal case has been initiated under paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as through article 28 under paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 211 of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are currently underway.

Law enforcement agencies reminded that the illegal disposal of state property and fraudulent schemes involving the sale of land plots entail criminal liability.
