Uzbekistan Sets New Summer Power Consumption Record

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Unified Energy System recorded a new summer record for daily electricity consumption on 17 July 2026.

According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity consumption reached 293.4 million kWh during the day, exceeding the previous summer high recorded last year by 20.8 million kWh, or 7.6%.

The country also set a new record for daily electricity generation. Power plants produced 296.1 million kWh on 17 July, surpassing the previous record of 295.4 million kWh, set a day earlier on 16 July, by 0.7 million kWh, or 0.24%.

Including electricity generated by small solar photovoltaic power stations, total generation reached 305 million kWh. That exceeded daily consumption by 11.6 million kWh and was 9.6 million kWh, or 3.2%, higher than the previous day's output.

The Ministry of Energy said dispatch services are monitoring the load on the electricity grid, as well as the condition of transmission lines and transformer equipment, around the clock. When necessary, operators redistribute network loads and take operational measures to prevent overloads, equipment overheating, technical failures and large-scale power outages.

The ministry also urged consumers to use electricity efficiently and, where possible, limit the use of non-essential electrical appliances to reduce pressure on the power system and minimize the risk of emergency outages.
