Uzbekistan, Russia Discuss Expanding Interior Ministry Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Russia held a regular meeting of the interagency coordination working group of their interior ministries in Moscow, where the sides discussed further expanding practical cooperation in the law enforcement sector. The International Cooperation Department of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the meeting.

The meeting was attended by delegations led by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Major General Botir Kudratkhodjayev, and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Police Colonel General Andrey Khrapov.

The talks focused on cooperation in combating crime, ensuring public safety, countering transnational crime and improving the professional training of law enforcement personnel.

Participants stressed the need to further strengthen information sharing between the two ministries and coordinate operational activities using modern information technologies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides said the dialogue, held in an open and constructive atmosphere, would contribute to further developing interagency cooperation and strengthening mutual trust and understanding.

Following the meeting, the Uzbek delegation visited the main directorates of Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow and St. Petersburg, which are frequently visited by citizens of Uzbekistan.

During the visits, the sides exchanged views on protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, preventing crime, and reviewed the work of relevant units within Russia's internal affairs bodies.
