Uzbekistan Representative Joins Rosatom's IMPACT TEAM 2050 Youth Council for First Time
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Mukhiddin Umidov, a student at the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI), has been elected to the international youth advisory council under the Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation. This marks the first time in the history of the advisory body that Uzbekistan has secured representation.
The elections for the new cohort of IMPACT TEAM 2050—the youth advisory council to Rosatom's Director General—took place during the IV Obninsk NEW International Youth Nuclear Forum held in Russia. Following the voting process, Umidov, a fourth-year student from the Tashkent branch, officially joined the council.
In his new capacity, Umidov will represent the interests of Uzbekistan's nuclear industry youth on the international stage. He will participate in developing human resource initiatives, promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy among young people, and strengthen cooperation between young specialists in the region and the top management of Rosatom.
Commenting on his election, Umidov emphasized that the expansion of nuclear energy unlocks vast horizons for young professionals.
"The development of the nuclear industry is not just a large-scale technological project, but the beginning of a new era. It opens up wide opportunities for youth to achieve professional growth, implement cutting-edge technologies, and shape a safe and sustainable energy future," he noted.
Umidov is already deeply involved in developing the human resource potential of his country's nuclear sector. He works as an assistant at the Energy Audit and Energy Efficiency Laboratory of the NRNU MEPhI Tashkent branch, trains young specialists under the "Youth Academy of Uzbekistan" program, and participates in various educational initiatives.
Previously, he represented the youth perspective during public hearings on the nuclear power plant construction project in the Jizzakh region and served as a speaker at a press conference focused on Uzbek-Russian cooperation in training personnel for the nuclear sector. Additionally, Umidov led the Uzbek student delegation during World Atomic Week in Moscow.
The election of a representative from Uzbekistan to IMPACT TEAM 2050 reflects the republic's growing role in international cooperation regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the training of highly qualified personnel for its emerging nuclear industry.
